Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of the Kinodal platform (kinodal.com), the Kinodal iOS/Android app, and the Kinodal Sync Chrome Extension (together, "Kinodal"). By creating an account or using Kinodal, you agree to these Terms. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle your data.

1. Accounts

You need a Kinodal account to use most of the platform, as either a filmmaker (hosting screenings) or a viewer (joining screenings to react and leave voice notes). You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity that happens under your account. You can delete your account at any time — see Section 7 below.

2. Filmmaker Responsibilities

You must have the right to share whatever video you link a screening to (via Vimeo or Frame.io) with the viewers you invite.
You are responsible for the content of your screenings, any messages or support links you attach to them, and for how you use viewer engagement data.
Kinodal does not host or store your video itself — video always plays from Vimeo or Frame.io directly. We only store engagement data (reactions, voice notes, timecodes) and whatever session metadata you provide (title, schedule, notes).

3. Viewer Responsibilities

Reactions and voice notes you record are shared with the filmmaker who created that screening — see our Privacy Policy for exactly what's visible to them.
Voice notes are transcribed automatically (and translated, if the filmmaker has that on for a given screening); please don't record anything you wouldn't want transcribed.
Be respectful in voice notes and any other content you submit through Kinodal — this isn't a public platform, but the filmmaker will read and hear what you submit.

4. Subscriptions & Billing

Filmmaker accounts can start on a free trial (limited screenings and viewers) and upgrade to a paid tier (Indie, Pro, or Studio) for higher limits. Paid subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis through Stripe and can be changed or canceled any time from the Upgrade page — canceling also happens automatically if you delete your account (Section 7). We don't store your card details ourselves; Stripe handles that. Prices and tier limits are shown on the Upgrade page and may change with notice.

5. Acceptable Use

Please don't use Kinodal to:

Share content you don't have the rights to, or that violates someone else's intellectual property
Harass, threaten, or abuse other users through reactions, voice notes, or filmmaker notes
Attempt to access another account, or circumvent viewer/device limits tied to a subscription tier
Use Kinodal or the Kinodal Sync Chrome Extension to interfere with Frame.io, Vimeo, or any other third-party service outside of their own terms of use

6. Third-Party Services

Kinodal integrates with Vimeo, Frame.io, Stripe, OpenAI (Whisper transcription), Resend, Cloudflare, and Railway to provide the service — see the Privacy Policy's "Data Sharing" section for what each one is used for. Your use of Vimeo or Frame.io directly (e.g. as the video source for a screening) is also governed by their own respective terms.

7. Deleting Your Account

You can permanently delete your Kinodal account at any time from the Account page (in the app, or at kinodal.com/dashboard/account), without needing to contact us. Deleting your account cancels any active subscription immediately and makes your login permanently unusable. It does not delete screenings you created or reactions/voice notes you left on other filmmakers' screenings — see the Account page and our Privacy Policy for exactly what is and isn't removed.

8. Termination

We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these Terms or the Acceptable Use section above. You can stop using Kinodal and delete your account at any time.

9. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

Kinodal is provided "as is." We work to keep the platform reliable, but we don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free, particularly around real-time sync with third-party video platforms (Vimeo, Frame.io) that are outside our control. To the extent permitted by law, Kinodal isn't liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms as Kinodal evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date at the top of this page.
